About the ENMUS

A dream that came true!

The Egyptian Neuromuscular Ultrasound Society is an independent non-profit scientific society fully dedicated to the neuromuscular ultrasound specialty. The Society was established in 2018 as a result of cooperation and agreement between Prof. Eman Tawfik, the pioneer of NMUS in Egypt and a professor at the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Department, Ain Shams University, and the ‘Egyptian Society of Electrodiagnosis Medicine & Clinical Neurophysiology’- a member of the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology- with a common aim of propagating and advancing the specialty.

How did the idea emerge?

Establishing a society that is dedicated only to neuromuscular ultrasound was one of Dr. Eman Tawfik objectives since she started her career in NMUS in 2013. Dr. Eman believes that NMUS should be considered a distinct ultrasound subspecialty, and not as a simple extension of other US domains., and thus it deserves a totally dedicated society. The objective was not only to establish a society that gathers the Egyptian physicians who are interested in the field, but more importantly to provide professional and high quality NMUS training in Egypt.

Society Objectives

1. Increase the orientation about NMUS & enhance its propagation  in Egypt.
2. Provide NMUS training courses/workshops for physicians.
3. Scientific support of NMUS research projects.
4. Present latest updates in NMUS.
